Summer 2018, in our eyes, had two opposing trends: from one side saw elegance in baby pinks and pastel hues, yet on the other we adored the metallics, cobalts and rusts from designers. However AW18 changes the tide, with the retro return of pop colours, contrasting nudes and dampened elegant hues.
What to wear with Teal:
Upon first thought, teal may seem a difficult colour to pair with an outfit. It’s not quite blue, it’s not quite green… but in reality, it’s any shade you want it to be. Pair with an all black dress to let those blue tones pop, or team with neutral hues to reveal the greener, deeper shades. During the day, a teal side piece will complement any denim ensemble, whilst into the evening, a silver sequin dress or two piece could be your perfect match.
The famed shade that has suitably graced the wardrobes of many, is back again to take the stage. This go-to shade is every girl’s saviour; the perfect addition to any outfit, no matter how hectic.
Offering an elegant feel, the neutral hues can be a calming addition to an otherwise busy day or evening look. Wear with black when playing it safe, or team with colour-popping shoes or a blazer for that vibrant-yet-sophisticated feel.
What to wear with Red:
Everyone makes excuses for not accessorising with red:
“I don’t know what to wear it with”
“It doesn’t suit my skin tone”
“I don’t have matching shoes”
Here at MyBag, we know that this time around, red is here to stay. Showing early signs of popularity within SS18, we think this trend has been brewing for a while. Red no longer needs to be vibrant to be outstanding. Softer, warmer reds are uber chic and complementary to any monochrome style.
What to wear with Tan:
All hail the transitional shade that never fails…
From the peak of SS18 through to the blustery depths of the winter weather, tan bags of all shades carry us through. Complimenting that luxe-looking neutral palette, shades from cream through to beige and into soft browns hail the autumn season and perfectly introduce a new season colour palette. Forgoing the stark white in the depths of winter, tan is a much softer shade for the colder months and sits nicely next to those fairer skin tones. For a casual event, a tan bag can be the perfect addition to tie an outfit together. Accessorise with a belt to complete the look, or experiment with different shades of shoes or jewellery – rust is a must when it comes to pairing this shade.
What to wear with Blush:
As a member of the pink family, a blush bag can vary in shade. From watermelon hues to soft rose, this is a colour palette more versatile than most. For this trend pick, MyBag couldn’t resist the many blush options, so picked out our favourite tones from the shade.
A lighter blush is similar to a baby pink, being a perfect afternoon or early evening drinks outfit addition. Pair with jeans, blazer slung over the shoulders and block heels for that casual, yet fashion conscious look.
For the warmer shades, try a complimentary dress, in neutral tones, cream or white. Mix up the palette with cooler and warmer accessories to suitably contrast the bag.
How to wear prints:
A few years ago the answer to this question would have been a plain black outfit with minimal colour or contrast. Yet the times have evolved and if you’re not mixing your prints, you need to get back on Instagram.
Leopard print is definitely our favourite here at MyBag and whilst a simple outfit might better from a print or two, the most fun is in contrasting.
